ALas, it is indeed so. THe Fargo print drivers for windows full color printing are far better than the monochrome print driver we had for linux (which we actually wrote), so for full color badges I was runnig VNC remotely to the Xp box, and after generating the image in Gimp, sending it to the XP box and printing it from LView Pro.
Certainly smarter than a lot of people you could hire for technical staff & probably more computer saavy.
